Hello!

20170504_085431

Our students are in full gear heading towards the election on Tuesday! This week we learned about the importance of voting, and along with the other grade 5 classes made some campaign posters to get out the vote! By Monday we are hoping all of our students are ready to make an informed decision and participate in our student vote. Like our posters say: Get out your coat so you can go out and vote!

Hello!

We have started our Social Studies unit about the Canadian Government. Today the class created a Venn diagram showing which level of government would be responsible for the newspaper clipping. We will soon be looking into democracy, voting, and our local BC election.

Hello!

In case you didn’t know, this week is Lakewood’s Literacy Week where we celebrate reading and learning together! Today we decorated our classroom doors, one for Minions and one for Diary of a Wimpy Kid, pictures are below.

Each night students have the opportunity to participate in an activity at home, where parents sign off after, giving students a chance to win prizes at the end of the week. The information went home today in a GREEN notice.

Hello!

Over the last two Fridays we have had Aboriginal Role Models come into our classroom to help make weaving pouches! The class learned about Aboriginal culture and had a lot of fun making their own pouch.

Resource Checklist Resource Info Packet Resource Project Templates

Hello!

Our class has just started our natural resource unit for Social Studies. They will be creating 4 small projects for each natural resource we look at (Energy, Mining, Forestry, and Fish). Eventually we will be creating a booklet out of our information. I have attached the criteria for students to use while gathering information, as well as some info packets on each resource, and the templates for their projects (Students pick 4 of the 6 templates to use). Our Energy projects are due the 23rd, Mining the 1st, Forestry the 3rd, and Fishery the 8th.
